Pontus Österholm - Head of Integration Team, Swedwise

Meet the team: Pontus Österholm, Systems Integration

August 28, 2017 /

It’s nice to be able to put a face to a name. So we thought we’d give you an idea of who we are, what we’re up to, along with what makes us tick. Over the next few weeks, we’ll introduce you to a member of our team. So without further ado… meet Pontus Österholm – Head of our Systems Integration Team.

Describe your background?

I grew up Nyköping and after high school, I moved to study system development at Luleå University of Technology. I presently divide my time between Stockholm where I manage our Integration team and Gothenburg, where I’m providing infrastructure architecture expertise for the region Västra Götaland (VGR).

Why did you decide to join Swedwise?

I like the “people-first” approach. I think it’s important to have transparent communication with customers, and Swedwise always stands by their side. I also like that Swedwise encourages me to just be myself.

If you weren’t doing what you do now, what do you think you would be doing?

Photography is a passion of mine, so maybe something involving that. Alternatively, maybe something involving technology and environmental issues – certainly big problems to solve.

Pontus Österholm - Team Leader for Swedwise Integration

Pontus likes to get his feet wet, when he’s not tinkering with integration challenges.

What else do you do outside work besides take photos?

As nature fan, I like to spend time in it. Hiking and snowboarding are a couple of things (I bring my camera, of course). While in Stockholm I play with a local football team and little hockey too. I’m a total nerd and love board games and watching all types of series. I’m also a bit of a foodie and love to cook for friends.

What single piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

No matter how old you are, you’ll always look back on yourself as young with infinite possibilities.

What are your thoughts on digitalisation/automation and how it will affect the industries of the customers you work with?

It will generate a lot of work for consultants, but ultimately much of the benefit will be for the customer, so a win win. I think the most important strategic issue for CTOs or developers in the next couple of years will be trying to build loose coupling and more process-oriented APIs, which are independent of specific system vendors.

What is the latest piece of technology you have been working with?

API-gateways and building and managing APIs with MuleSoft’s Anypoint Studio/Platform.

Who do you admire?

People who put others before themselves.

What are you reading right now? Any books you would recommend?

Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. It’s an old fantasy series I read a long time ago, but never finished. Only +30 books left in the series!

Why would you personally recommend Swedwise to companies or other consultants?

For me it is the freedom with responsibility, brilliant colleagues and being able to create tailormade solutions for the big challenges our customers face. I think these combine to make Swedwise a unique place to be.

Thanks for your time!

My pleasure.
