Faster Innovation For VGR
Many public sector organisations face the challenge to create faster and more flexible information flows, without compromising the security and integrity of current systems. This year, Swedwise helped Västra Götalandsregionen (VGR) with strategic and organisational work to accelerate innovation with more effective digitisation.
Faster. Simpler. Safer.
Today’s integration projects include finding paths to innovation while meeting very high demands on uptime and stability. One such project is the modernisation of VGR’s Future Care Information Environment for Healthcare (Framtidens vårdinformationsmiljo).
In addition to technical challenges, which include the containerisation of components, new monitoring and logging tools, and conversion to API-driven integration, Swedwise contributes strategic and organisational work that will enable VGR to embrace Bimodal IT. The aim is to enable VGR to realise their strategy and accelerate innovation with more effective digitisation in parallel with traditional system integration and management in the coming years.
Why Bimodal IT?
Gartner first defined bimodal in 2015 as the practice of managing two separate coherent modes of IT delivery, one focused on stability and the other on agility.
In this definition, the first mode (the traditional or plan-based approach) is sequential, emphasising predictability and accuracy when problems are well understood. Whereas the second, more agile mode is more exploratory, aimed at solving new problems.
These benefits are particularly appealing for large public sector organisations for where digital transformation is as much a defence strategy as a way of achieving innovation. Both can operate in symbiosis. The adoption of Bimodal IT can go a long way to ensuring organisational change with a faster adoption and utilisation of new technology, while ensuring the reliability, scalability, performance and the dependability of existing information flows.
