The Integration Switch

A flexible and fast adapting switch at the center of your integration projects is a better way of doing business.

Integration switch with XT

Swedwise Partner Anders Lyckosköld of WiseTech Global explains why a flexible and fast adapting switch at the center of your integration projects is a better way of doing business.

On a recent visit to Swedwise regarding Healthcare Integration, and the need for EDI and API’s to work together, something dawned on me: No matter what industry you’re in when faced with an integration challenge, successful organisations always think holistically about the future effect a present project will have on their entire ecosystem – from work processes, strategy, to technology adoption.

Today, many traditional IT projects are created as development projects, which include a lot of coding, and a lot of IT consultants interested in creating hours for their billing. This is in contradiction to what the business wants. Moreover, cost barriers make it harder for businesses to implement their digital transformation strategies.

A better approach: The Integration Switch

What most businesses require is a central integration switch that allows them to stay agile enough to adopt new beneficial technologies fast. In order to achieve this, it is better to move any integration problem into the switch instead of having to change all the connected systems, processes, and suppliers, and force customers to adopt a given standard. Successful integration should be more like connecting a light bulb to the power outlet. Of course, it’s more complex, but it’s helpful to visualise how existing business processes should tell the switch what to do than the reverse.

Secure, traceable, and reliable system integration that’s ready to go

This is why WiseTech’s business model provides the customer with a readymade solution that does not require development, and can be put into operation immediately. xT is a great example of such software. Swedwise has successfully used xT for public sector integrations for organisations such as Region Stockholm, which require absolute security from X-ray systems to pharmaceutical supplies and laboratory tests.

Region Stockholm also requires transaction performance, as well as continuous security auditing. In this instance, Swedwise connects hundreds of A2A systems to thousands of external B2B health clinics; thus an overview as well as flexibility is necessary.

Make the Switch: Goodbye hourly invoicing, hello subscription model

I believe that as a system integration solutions provider, getting rid of the old invoicing per hour way of doing business in favour of a software subscription model, is a better approach to IT Integration Projects. This gives the customer a monthly fee and no other costs. Other partners include their work in the monthly overtime fixed fee. This gives businesses a clear budget without any surprises. Ultimately, it provides more flexibility for organisations to finally get the integration they really want and help fulfill their transformational strategies. It’s time to make the switch!
